WEST Fife Enterprise launched their new Employability Academy and has been very busy recruiting in the Cowdenbeath area.

Their Employability Academy offers a variety of courses aimed at unemployed 16 to 64 year-olds who are looking to update their skills and gain recognised qualifications and valuable work experience and they are keen to hear from anyone in the area who is looking for support to get into employment.

Sandra Beveridge, Community Liaison Officer at WFE, decided that to connect with more people, she would conduct interviews in more convenient locations for people who enquired about courses.

She said, “After receiving a lot of enquiries from the Cowdenbeath area we decided to set up locally to meet and interview people and we are delighted that so far we have engaged with around 16 people from the surrounding areas, most of whom have either started or are about to start on courses.

" We are grateful for the use of a room at the offices of Alex Rowley MSP, on Cowdenbeath High Street, and would urge anyone looking for support to gain skills and work to get in touch”.

All courses offer a weekly training allowance and a free transport service from areas including Ballingry, Lochore, Lochgelly, Cowdenbeath, Kelty etc. Vocational opportunities are currently available in Woodwork and Metalwork.
